After School Summer Bunch Flag ProgramDesiree had a lot of fun putting together a Flags of the World program for the After School Summer Bunch this week (eat your heart out Sheldon Cooper!).  They talked about the flags, memorable landmarks and cultural contributions of fifteen countries.

After School Program Student with Big Dipper CraftLast week, students from the After School Summer Bunch joined Desiree down at the Community Center to learn about planets and constellations.  They pulled apart Oreo® cookies to learn about the phases of the moon (yum) and put together their own Big Dippers from toothpicks and mini marshmallows.

ROCK OUT WITH MAD SCIENCE ON JUNE 7TH!

Copyrighted CSLP Libraries Rock imageMad Science will kickoff our Summer Reading Program.  We will discover the universal language of music.  Clap and be astonished to see light streak from the vibrations!  Explore pitches and make your music using things you find!  Use PVC pipes, boom-whackers, and even glasses of water to create a silly Mad Science symphony.

Please join us at the Ringling Community Center, June 7th at 2:00 p.m.  The library will open at approximately 3:15 p.m

Holiday Closing – Memorial Day

The library will be closed Monday, May 28th to commemorate Memorial Day.

Originally called Decoration Day, from the early tradition of decorating graves with flowers, wreaths and flags, Memorial Day is a day for remembrance of those who have died in service to our country.  http://www.pbs.org/national-memorial-day-concert/memorial-day/history/
