E-books Are Here!
The Gleason Memorial Library is very excited to be a recipient of an E-media grant funded by the Oklahoma Department of Libraries and Institute of Museum and Library Services. The grant provides 1500.00 to contract with Overdrive, an e-book and more company, for a one year membership in the Ok Virtual Library Consortium (OKVL). $500.00 will go to management fees and we will use $1000.00 to purchase books to add to the Consortium collection. The OKVL provides e-books and audio books to 85 public libraries and library systems that have service populations below 100,000. During the most recent year, 411,950 e-books, 113,845 audio books, and 1,825 streaming videos were circulated to Oklahomans through OKVL. For more information visit our new Ok Virtual Library page.
You will need your library card number and a password to access Overdrive and OKVL. Please contact the library for this information at 580-662-2925. Library staff will be happy to assist patrons in accessing Overdrive. However; we do ask your patience since we may not be familiar with the device you wish to use. We will make every effort in figuring it out and getting you started!
We have wanted to provide our patrons with E-book access for some time and this grant gives us the opportunity to take the plunge. We will be conducting at least one survey of our patrons for input on the value of this service. If you miss a paper survey request and still have an opinion, please let us know in person, by phone or send us a comment at gleasonmemorial@gmail.com. This is an important project for our library to undertake and we need your input.

Going Buggy!
ROARchestra!
The Community Center was filled with the sounds of the wild as Madison, the Oklahoma City Zoo wildlife educator, put together a ROARchestra from audience members. They created music from the sounds of animals from the oceans, plains, savannas, jungles and more. She brought with her a tenrec, an animal that resembles a hedgehog, a young Komodo dragon, and a container of Madagascar hissing cockroaches!
