Educator, has offered to do an evening class beginning Thursday, November 8th from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. Again, please share and pass the word along to anyone who might be interested.

We are looking forward to our second class next Monday, October 22nd at 9:30 a.m.  Please pass the word along to anyone you think might benefit from this program, as well as anyone who might just enjoy learning some tai chi movements.

woman in silhouette doing tai chiGleason Memorial Library and Tara Brown, Jefferson County OSU Extension Educator for Family & Consumer Sciences and 4-H Youth Development will provide a five-week Tai chi: Moving for Better Balance beginning Monday, October 15th at 9:30 in the Ringling Community Center.


Tai chi: Moving for Better Balance is an evidence-based program that focuses on improving functional ability, such as balance and physical function, to reduce fall-related risks and frequency.
 
The series of slow continuous movements of Tai chi: Moving for Better Balance help those participating reduce stress, increase balance and flexibility as well as learn relaxation to improve their overall mind, body and spirit.
 
Tai chi: Moving for Better Balance is for people at all levels of mobility and can be done while sitting. Tara Brown recently received her certification through the Injury Prevention Service, Oklahoma State Department of Health, to teach this program.

Germs!

Germ Program at the Gleason Memorial LibraryThe After School students resumed their weekly visits to the library with a fantastic program from Desiree.
Armed with a black light flashlight she showed them that germs can be everywhere and that keeping
hands clean and blocking coughs and sneezes can help keep germs from spreading.
