Save the Date and Don’t Forget Wednesday, Jan. 23rd!
We present classes 3 & 4 from the L.E.A.D. = Live Well, Eat Well, be Active with Diabetes series @ 3:30 – 5:30 pm.
Tara Brown, Jefferson County OSU Extension Educator, brought us valuable information in Class 2 of the series. That class emphasized the benefits of weight loss – if needed: decreasing calories in, increasing calories out, carbohydrate counting, using food labels and physical activity. This combined class 3 & 4 will focus on stress and other complications diabetes can cause as well as using the Plate Method vs. Carb Counting to manage food choices, using visual cues and keeping an activity log. The second half will show how to modify the sugar, fat, sodium and fiber contents in recipes and increasing physical activity. Please share news of this class to pass the word along to anyone who would be interested. No need to worry about missing Class 1 or 2, each class is filled with beneficial information.
Mummies Among Us!
Des did a great job explaining all about mummies in ancient Egypt to the students in the after school program. Click here to see more pictures in our Facebook video!
What a Day!
What a wonderful way to start the day by saying, YES, we have been hijacked! If any of you have been receiving sketchy emails purporting to be from us needing help, or itunes card for a non-existent niece they are definitely not from us. We have addresses from ATT and Gmail but no Yahoo. The internet is a wonderful thing, until it isn’t! Please, please pass the word along. Thank You.

Then come to our first cooking demonstration – HOLIDAY COOKING UNDER PRESSURE – holiday cooking ideas with the Instant Pot. Many thanks to Tara Brown, Jefferson County OSU Extension Educator for Family & Consumer Sciences and 4-H Youth Development for bringing us this class.
Tai Chi: Moving for Better Balance Classes Continue to Do Well
I want to thank everyone out there for passing the word along about these classes. Tara Brown, Jefferson County OSU Extension educator, will begin offering an 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. evening class at the Ringling Community Center beginning Thursday, November 8th. If you are coming to the Monday morning class and want some more tai chi time come on down. If you can’t make the morning class feel free to check us out on Thursdays!
Halloween was Great Fun!
We went for an Alice in Wonderland theme this year. Des knocked it out of the park while I was fairly great as a nutty Queen of Hearts. We gave away a lot of candy and all but 4 of the books we brought to give away found new homes. It was so nice to have the Community Center to set up in with the rainy weather we had all day. The morning visits from Ringling and Zanies students were a joy as well. Everything happens so fast I didn’t get a great picture but I added it to our Facebook post. They are so sweet and polite.
